New Project!

My Mother-in-law Sandy was over the other day I was telling her about the baby hats I was making for Lil'Troopers http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lil_troopers/ (I will post a picture of them before I send them off). I was also telling her about a pattern idea I had for a shawl. As we were talking Sandy started to tell me about her friend that is dying from cancer and how she (my mother-in-law) wants to start up this program to make prayer shawls for women who have cancer. She has made one for her friend and a couple of more.

Sandy has several ladies in her church that are planning on making some also. I of course jumped on the band wagon and I am going to make several. I have started two, here is a picture of the first one. I want to get a little bit more progress done before I share the second one. It is in the pattern idea that I was telling Sandy about.

Sandy came over today and brought me my birthday present over a couple days early and in it was a hand written pattern that she thought that I would enjoy. That is the one in the picture. Here are the instructions on how to make this one. I am sure she won't mind me sharing it.

Shawl

732 yds of worsted wt. yarn
Size 15 needles
Cast on 60 stitches and knit every row (she knows that I don't like to purl)
until 57" to 58" long. Bind off in knit stitch. Add fringe (2 pcs. in ea stitch).
Fringe
Wrap on 2 pcs. of 9" Cardboard and cut between the 2 pcs. of cardboard, cut on the end you started on.

I am making this shawl with Red Heart Symphony color Charcoral (that is how they spelled it).
I am at the way beginning so I will have to post another picture when I am getting closer to being done and another one when I am finished. It should keep me busy for a couple of weeks. I of course will work on my many other projects while I work on this one. I get bored way to easy!!
