We are hatching ducklings!!!!

We started out with five duck eggs

Hubby and I turned the eggs four times a day and on day 14 we candled the eggs and found out that only three of the eggs had anything growing in them.                                        Candling Eggs

Last night was day 28 and low and behold we hear peeping.  Something I never knew before was that you can hear them peeping in their shells, before they have even cracked open yet.  TRULY AMAZING!   Meet egg number 1 he is the first one who wanted out, but us being new to this whole incubator thing we let him stay in the egg too long with out assisting him out of the egg.  He was dried out and had a pretty rough night.  We were not sure he was going to make it.  But a couple of trips to the watering trough today and he seems to be doing much better.

This little guy is the second one that wanted out, and he is doing GREAT.   Hubby googled and found out we need to assist the little guys out of their eggs, unlike if they were in their mother's nest.  Hubby assisted this one out of his egg, I couldn't watch.  I would leave the room and then come back and take a peek and then leave the room again.  We soon learned this one has a set of lungs, wow he is loud.  We are still waiting on egg number three.  We hear him peeping in his shell and we can see the egg move around a little.  He will be hatched soon.  I will keep you posted.
